Mother’s Day.

As usual, I had to work again this year.

That’s life as a freelancer — I basically take on whatever jobs come my way.

But when I got home and opened the door, a sweet scent greeted me.

I followed it to the fridge, opened it, and there it was: a strawberry tart made with puff pastry.

Next to it was a little note.

My daughter had made it for me.

She must’ve been in the kitchen all by herself, looking things up, trying her best.

In that moment, all my tiredness disappeared.

The cake was sweet, but her thoughtfulness was even sweeter — so warm it nearly brought tears to my eyes.

Even when I’m busy, moments like this remind me how happy I am to be a mom.

These little joys… they’re actually the biggest source of energy in my life.
