【実体験】どうしたイギリス！路上喫煙🚬多すぎでしょ！

イギリスに行って、ひとつめちゃくちゃ驚いたことがありました😳🇬🇧

それは……

道でタバコ吸ってる人、多すぎる！！！🚬💦

今の日本って、路上喫煙かなり厳しいじゃないですか。

しかも、私が昔留学していたカナダでは、「道で普通にタバコを吸う」っていう光景が本当にほとんどなかったので、

ロンドンに着いてから、

「えっ！？どうしたイギリス！？😳

どうしたロンドン！？😂」

って思っちゃいました（笑）

特にロンドンは、本当にびっくりするくらい道で吸ってる人が多いんです🚬

小さい子どもの目線の高さにタバコが来たりして、「危なくないのかな…💦」ってちょっと心配になる場面もありました。

あと、吸い殻も結構落ちていて、街が少し汚れて見える場所も…。

気になってイギリスの友達に聞いてみたら、

「建物の中は禁煙だけど、外ならOK」

っていうルールらしいです😳

調べてみると、イギリスでは2007年から、レストラン・パブ・駅などを含む公共の屋内施設は全面禁煙🚭

室内での喫煙にはかなり厳しいルールがあるそうです。

その一方で、日本みたいに「路上喫煙そのものを広く禁止する」という考え方はまだそこまで強くないらしく、基本的には屋外なら吸える場所が多いとのこと🚬

ただ最近は、

・病院の近く

・子ども向け施設周辺

・一部の駅や公共施設

などでは禁煙エリアも増えているみたいです。

さらに、若い世代の喫煙を減らすために、イギリス政府も新しい禁煙政策を進めているそうで、今後はまた変わっていくのかもしれません😳

それでも実際にロンドンを歩いていると、

「こんなに普通に歩きながら吸うんだ！？😂」

と、かなりカルチャーショックを受けました（笑）

同じ先進国でも、日本🇯🇵、カナダ🇨🇦、イギリス🇬🇧では、ルールや感覚が本当に違うんだなぁ…と実感した出来事でした✨

One thing really shocked me when I visited the UK 😳🇬🇧

There were SO many people smoking on the streets 🚬💦

In Japan, street smoking is becoming more and more restricted, and when I studied in Canada before, it was actually rare to see people casually smoking while walking down the street.

So when I arrived in London, I honestly thought,

“What happened, UK!? 😳

What happened, London!? 😂”

Especially in London, I saw people smoking everywhere.

Sometimes cigarettes were right at the eye level of small children, and I found myself thinking, “Isn’t that dangerous…? 💦”

I also noticed quite a few cigarette butts on the ground, and in some areas the streets felt a little dirty because of it.

When I asked my British friends about it, they explained that smoking inside buildings is strictly banned, but smoking outdoors is still generally allowed 😳

After looking into it a bit more, I learned that since 2007, the UK has banned smoking inside public buildings such as restaurants, pubs, and stations 🚭

So indoor smoking rules are actually very strict.

On the other hand, unlike Japan, the UK still doesn’t have strong nationwide restrictions on street smoking, so in many places people can smoke outside quite freely 🚬

That said, smoking restrictions are gradually increasing around places like:

• hospitals

• children’s facilities

• some stations and public areas

The UK government is also working on new anti-smoking policies aimed at reducing smoking among younger generations, so things may continue to change in the future 😳

Still, walking around London and seeing so many people casually smoking made me experience a real culture shock 😂

It reminded me that even among developed countries like Japan 🇯🇵, Canada 🇨🇦, and the UK 🇬🇧, everyday rules and social norms can be surprisingly different ✨
