Don’t Trust the Estimate!

Let’s Talk About the Real Cost of Weddings.

"Maybe this price is manageable..."

That’s what many couples think when they first receive a wedding estimate.

But wait a second—don’t take that number at face value!

In my experience, it’s not uncommon for the final bill to be over ¥1,000,000 more than the initial estimate.

Why is there such a big difference?

Where does all that extra money go?

Today, I’m revealing the truth behind wedding cost estimates!

---

1. Flowers – The Basic Plan Is Way Too Bare!

Most estimates include the lowest-tier floral arrangements for table decor and bouquets.

But once you start planning, you’ll likely feel it’s too plain—and opt for an upgrade.

Estimate: ¥80,000

Reality: ¥200,000 (Includes guest table centerpieces, head table, and two bouquets)

---

2. Food & Drinks – Your Guests Deserve the Best!

Food is the #1 thing guests remember.

Estimates typically list the cheapest course, but most couples upgrade once they realize how important it is.

Estimate: ¥12,000 per person

Reality: ¥18,000 per person

That’s a ¥480,000 difference for 80 guests!

Also, drink packages often require upgrades, which adds another unexpected cost.

---

3. Attire – The “Basic Plan” Won’t Cut It!

It’s almost impossible to find a dress or tux you love at the quoted estimate price.

Upgrades for designer dresses, popular styles, or adding a kimono can cost hundreds of thousands more.

Estimate: Bride’s dress ¥200,000

Reality: Dress + accessories rental ¥350,000–¥500,000

---

4. Sound & Visual – Hidden Must-Haves

Things like copyright fees for BGM, projector rental, and profile videos are often considered “extras” and not included in the estimate.

Estimate: Basic sound system ¥50,000

Reality: Sound & video-related costs ¥150,000+

---

5. MC & Entertainment – Leave It to the Pros!

Some venues say “MCing it yourself is free,” but hiring a professional MC is safer and more fun.

Extras like a candle ceremony or photo booth are often added later and not in the initial quote.

Estimate: MC ¥0 (not listed)

Reality: Professional MC (including bilingual) ¥100,000–¥150,000

Other entertainment: ¥50,000–¥200,000

---

Bottom Line: That Initial Estimate? Just a Fantasy.

Expect to add at least ¥1,000,000 to the real total.

The initial estimate shows only the bare minimum.

The more you want to personalize and elevate your big day, the more the costs naturally increase.

Smart Planning Tips for Choosing a Venue

1. Treat the estimate as the lowest possible price.

2. Ask what the realistic average costs are (e.g., popular flower arrangements, actual food upgrades).

3. Check what you can bring in yourself to save costs.

4. Compare quotes from 2–3 venues before deciding.

A wedding is one of life’s biggest milestones.

To avoid the regret of “this wasn’t what I imagined,”

the first step to a perfect day is being wise about the estimate trap!
